Meet the Team: Becky O’Neil
Contributor, Photography
Born and raised in Manchester NH, just an hour away from the ocean, Becky O’Neil has been drawn to its watery wonders for as long as she can remember. She has always gravitated toward the visual arts, taking up painting and photography in her youth and studying sculpture at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
During a casual conversation with her husband of 26 years, they each discovered that the other had always wanted to go scuba diving, so they got certified in 2018 and have been diving together ever since. Becky is grateful to be able to combine her visual and aquatic passions through underwater photography and aspires to dive in the caves of an iceberg like her hero, Jill Heinerth.
Underwater photography helps connect non-divers to the incredible beauty and importance of the ocean environment, and Becky hopes to spur the curiosity of the public and inspire them to help protect it. Her underwater journey throughout the world underscores the importance of us all being citizen scientists.
