SCUBA Diving
SCUBA diving is using specialized gear to have underwater adventures. Scuba diving is like exploring another planet filled with creatures and plant life. When you dive in New England, you’ll explore ecosystems teaming with all different types of life. Imagine being able to breathe underwater. Scuba diving is a way to explore underwater locations across New England such as oceans, lakes, ponds, quarries and rivers. With specialized gear, you can stay underwater for a longer time and go deeper than you would by just holding your breath. What do you think it would be like? Where would you want to explore?
"SCUBA" stands for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, which represents that fact that divers bring their own air supply (using tanks and regulators) to breathe underwater.
