Kettle Cove
Cape Elizabeth
Kettle Cove dive site is found on Cape Elizabeth. Divers enter/exit at the furthest left cove (there are two) with an easy beach entry a short distance from the parking lot. The cove is protected making this a great spot. In about 8-10 ft of water, beds of tall eel grass is seen that continues on for a few yards. After the eel grass, it then turns into a silty bottom with some rock formations.
Divers can also head closer to the left side of the cove to check out what was around the rocks.
We found variations of crabs, flounder, hermit crabs, sea raven and we also saw crates of oysters. It turned out there is a lot of oyster farming so make sure you're staying away from the buoys and connected ropes.
It's important that divers stay out of the middle cove as that's designation for commercial fisherman to bring their boats and out. They will not be happy with divers that disobey.
